I began pursuing filmmaking in earnest after returning from a Working Holiday Visa backpacking trip to Australia and New Zealand. I was hustling across an outback roadside motel, tasked with the prospect of cleaning eight different cabins in three hours (which I could never seem to figure out how to do properly), when I realized I absolutely had to make a film.
This thought was the culmination of a yearning that had been burrowing in my gut for a long time, and naturally, shooting one film wasn’t enough. After two 48 Hour Film Festival competitions, I shot an eight minute film that I submitted to the festival circuit in 2020. I’m in a position where I can dare hope to make more films, and enter the industry armed with some credible work, including a portfolio of screenplays. As of 2020, all I can do is develop my craft, and hope.
Blog entries reflect my thought process at the time. Different entries may reflect perspectives that contradict each other. I try and put a lot of thought into what I write, but sometimes extenuating circumstances will lead me to sound pessimistic, unhelpful, immature — like a human being, basically. The goal of this blog is to provide useful information for filmmakers, and filmmaking and cinema-related content that’s engaging for a more general audience.
